Program Constituencies

ChE, KMUTNB considers the program constituencies as our stakeholders in three ways:

  • students and alumni as our “products”,

  • employers as our “customers”, and

  • departmental faculty and staff as our “providers”.

We consistently focus our stakeholder opinions as an implication of ownership and responsibility on the part of the members. We try to build a better representation of the type of active, participating culture for all stakeholders in our department.

An explanation of our list of stakeholders:

  • strong>Students and alumni (our products): the ChE students are included as a program constituency. They are not only direct beneficiaries of an educational process, but also an effective educational process. Since they are both input and output of the program, their feedbacks are valuable for the program improvement. Alumni are the products and strong supporters of the academic program. Their careers demonstrate the accomplishment of the PEOs. To show appreciation for the education and development of their old school, alumni often become the major donors who play advisory roles and provide financial support for scholarships and endowments that directly affect students. Alumni also share updated and experienced technology from industries with current students.

  • Employers (our consumers): they desire to hire well-educated undergraduate engineering students, and graduates who accomplish all of the PEOs are a clear benefit to their employers. Normally, they want chemical engineers who can deal with complex engineering problems and engineering designs, work with professional skills with critical, thinking and life-long learning. pecial lectures or seminars on specific topics are regularly shared by our employers.

  • Departmental faculty and staff (our providers): the engineering faculty and staff have the academic responsibility for the curriculum and for education of the students. The program planning and curricula management are a major means of accomplishing all of the program’s objectives. Conducting research and encouraging students’ development are also our main duties. Since our actions and behaviors show a direct impact on the department, we are responsible for the well-being of the department. Regarding to this point, we are highly interested in helping students and sharing our knowledge and in creating new knowledge in chemical engineering and related fields.

Within the context of this discourse, we feel that it is appropriate to introduce our “Industry Advisory Board (IAB) for ChE, KMUTNB” since they represent our Department’s most immediate and direct connection to a portion of our constituencies/stakeholders, our students, alumni, and employers. Since 2019, our IAB had included various members of our students, alumni, employers. Furthermore, our IAB was carefully chosen from among leaders in the relevant fields and professionally successful alumni, see Table for a history of IAB members.
